You Have An Identity in Christ. Do You Know Who You Really Are And What You Have In Him?

Have you ever wonder what is your true identity in Christ and what you have in Him?

When I become a believer in Christ 21 years ago, the only thing I know is I have become a child of God. However, the reality of being a child of God did not quite sink in.

In other words, I do not really know my true identity in Christ except for the knowledge that I am now saved.

Until 10 years ago, the revelation of who I am in Jesus Christ and what are my privileges and rights as a child of God finally dawned upon me! Praise the LORD!

Even now, besides meditating on the Word of God of who I am in Christ, every now and then, I read and re-read Mark Hankins book on The Power of Identification With Christ to reinforce this truth.

This is taken from Chapter Four of The Power Of Identification With Christ (2003), " Jesus took our place. He took our curse and died our death. He took our condition so we could have His condition. He was identified with us. We were there in His death and resurrection. Because He died for us, we died with Him. Everything Jesus did, He did for us and it is credited to our account as if we did it."

Your Rights and Privileges

How about you? Do you feel uncertain of your identity in Christ...not really knowing your rights and privileges as a child of God?

- Do you know you are the righteousness of God in Christ?
- Has anyone mentioned to you that you are a king in Christ, a royal priest in Christ?
- Do you know that you and I have been crucified with Christ?

It does not matter how you feel. Even if you do not feel like a king, the truth of the matter is, you are a king in Christ.

Please pause for a moment with me and think...are kings lacking in food, clothing or houses?

Well, there you have the answer! In 1 John 4:17 "...because as He is, so are we in this world."

When you come to the consciousness of your identity in Christ, you will have no more fears and no more worries.

Instead, love, peace and joy will fill your heart continuously.

Therefore, declare aloud, the bible promises of who you are in Christ and what you have in Him. And see the promises of God being fulfilled in your life!

What Did The Bible Says About Your Identity In Christ?

Psalm 1:3

He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.

Romans 8:14-16

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out "Abba Father."
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Galatians 2:20

"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

Ephesians 2:6

...and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Therefore, reflect deeply and meditate upon these bible verses. You are a new creature, a new creation in Christ. You are a king priest in Christ. When you know who you really are in Christ Jesus, your words carry weight and power because as He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17)!
