Righteousness of God. His Righteousness or Mine?

His Righteousness or Mine?

Today I would like to focus on 2 Corinthians 5:21

21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

How? How did Jesus become sin for us and we, become the righteousness of God in Christ?

Let's look at Romans 5:17-19

17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

18 Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.

Garden Tomb

The Garden Tomb

Moving back in time....Back in the Garden of Eden, the fall of man came as a result of his disobedience to God.

Genesis 2:16-17

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying,"Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

Both Adam and Eve ate of the fruit and they died. They did not die physically but they died spiritually. You can read this story in Genesis 3.

Because of their disobedience to God, they were driven out of the Garden of Eden and sin came through the first man, Adam.

Many believers in Christ can understand how sin came about but not so with righteousness. You may be trying to attain righteousness by doing right, attending church service and reading the bible fervently.

All these are works of the law. We shall not be justified by works.

Reading Galatians 2:16

16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Righteousness is a free gift. I say again, righteousness is a FREE gift! It is THE Divine Exchange of Jesus Christ. He is born to die. Died to give us eternal life to those who believe in Him.

Believe in Jesus Christ by faith and you shall be justified by faith in Christ. And straight away you have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

(2 Cor 5: 21)

Romans 8:32 is so beautiful.

32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

It is not the Pharisees' in Jesus' day who delivered Jesus up to the Romans. It is not the unbelieving people in that day who delivered Jesus up.

Read Romans 8:32 again. It is God Himself who delivered Jesus up for us all! Can you feel His great love for you today? How much more will He "freely give us all things".

Doubt not for a moment that the LORD is withholding anything good from you.

If you are still thinking how you can be righteous in Jesus simply by believing, do this right now.

Place your right hand on your heart and say out aloud "I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!" Say this aloud at least 3 times. You will notice a "Omph" in your spirit man.

This is because finally, your inner man is in agreement with the Spirit of the Living God.

Do this daily (when you wake up and just before bedtime) so that you can be affirm by your own words in your spirit man together with the Spirit of God for the Spirit of God is also known as the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13).

Blessings... and remember that you are, you truly are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus the very moment you accept Jesus into your heart.
